Full Interview with Alex Krebs, Part 1: Connection & Flow

Wednesday, September 01, 2010

Since posting an article about my interview with Alex Krebs at Tangofest in 2008, I have received several requests to publish the fully transcribed interview. It is finally here in two parts (due to length). Revisiting this interview was a great experience; Alex is an excellent dancer, musician, instructor, and thinker with a great perspective on the dance. This first part covers how Alex fell in love with tango as well as his reflections on connection and flow. The second part, to be posted later this week, will cover his approach to musicality and his unique experiences with forming a tango orchestra and learning the bandoneón.
In case you are not already familiar with Alex Krebs – or even if you are – here is a video of him dancing with Luciana Valle. Watch the video, then dive into the interview. Enjoy!

Comments! (and other changes)

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

You may have noticed that there have been some changes to the site. Most are pretty minor - just hoping to make it easier to navigate and find what you are looking for. Please let me know if you come across anything confusing that I need to fix, or if you need help finding something that has moved.

The biggest - and most exciting - change is that the site now allows for comments on articles. I am very excited about this change because it will allow for sharing and discussions. I always love to get feedback, so please feel free to post your honest impressions, questions, and opinions. But always feel free to email me if you want to provide feedback or discuss a topic privately.

Joy in Motion will be three years old this December. Thank you to all the new friends I have made and to those who have dropped a quick line to provide encouragement, ideas, and suggestions. I’m working on some great articles right now and can’t wait to share. Enjoy!

Developing Your Blog or Creative Business

150 x 150 flying lessons badgeI don’t usually post things that aren’t dance-related, but I have to make an exception for artist and author Kelly Rae Roberts. I happened upon Kelly and her work after buying my sister her book for Christmas a few years ago. After following her success and her artwork for the past couple of years, I signed up for her e-course this summer to gather some ideas and inspiration for my website and some other projects I am working on. I was thrilled with everything I learned from the course and am happy to see that Kelly is passing on her knowledge and experience to others through her new e-books. These aren’t for everyone, but if you are a blogger or have any kind of passion on the side like art or photography that you would like to share with others, these e-books are a great resource for building an online presence, developing your passion into a career, etc. If you are interested in learning more, just click on the badge at left. Enjoy!
