I don’t usually post things that aren’t dance-related, but I have to make an exception for artist and author Kelly Rae Roberts. I happened upon Kelly and her work after buying my sister her book for Christmas a few years ago. After following her success and her artwork for the past couple of years, I signed up for her e-course this summer to gather some ideas and inspiration for my website and some other projects I am working on. I was thrilled with everything I learned from the course and am happy to see that Kelly is passing on her knowledge and experience to others through her new e-books. “Sensual and Mathematical”: Sharna Fabiano on Irresistible Tango

Some beautiful thoughts from Sharna Fabiano in an interview with Dance Place:

“Tango specifically is irresistible to me because it represents the intersection of opposing forces. To name a few: sensual and mathematical, simple and complex, curving and linear, up and down, inward and outward, speaking and listening, motion and stillness, control and release. The challenge and the reward of tango is to hold these opposites together at once in your own being. It is a partnered form, which is in itself another experience of the union of opposites. It’s beautiful and lends itself very elegantly to universal metaphors, both spiritual and interpersonal. I have been transformed a million times through tango. It is an art form in which it is very easy for me to experience constant personal evolution.”

Igniting Creativity: The Power of Limits

Watching one of the couples competing on Dancing With The Stars last night provided yet another example of how limits can serve as the spark that ignites our creativity.
